Jess Gersony
Jess Gersony began her formal tap dance training at age 12 when she met her mentor Darrell Williams (student of LaVaughn Robinson) and his daughter, D’Andria, in Philadelphia. Jess closely studied with them for 6 years, during which time she attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts as a dance major. While in Philadelphia, she was a founding member of two companies, Xhale and Footwerx. Additionally, during this time she was a member of the NYC based Tap City Youth Ensemble where she studied with and performed the choreography of Michelle Dorrance and Brenda Bufalino. For the past 4 years Jess was a member of Cats Paying Dues under the direction of Andrew Nemr and performed in various venues throughout New York City and the surrounding areas. Jess graduated from Columbia University in 2014 and is now pursuing her PhD at Harvard University in plant biology and climate change.
